Beirut. The Coast of Salvation for Armenians after August 4

1019

The August 4 explosion near the port of Beirut drastically changed life in Lebanon. Before the explosion, Lebanon had already plunged into an economic crisis and the national currency was devalued. Politically, the country is not stable, while the spread of the coronavirus has created additional difficulties for a country of just 10,000 square kilometers, with a population of 6 million. Lebanese-Armenians also bear the burdens of the country. If considered proportionally, Armenians suffered the most from the Beirut blast. CivilNet’s Tatul Hakobyan and Hakob Manukyan were in Beirut from August 8-11, visited the site of the explosion, the affected areas, and spoke to citizens.
